Dear Live Your Best Subscriber,

I hope this issue finds you feeling great and taking all
your steps to live your best.

This month's feature article deals with taking risks. I
hope you enjoy it.

In a forthcoming issue, I will introduce a new column, Ask
The Coach, and invite you to submit questions you
might have about career issues, relationships, time
management, stress management, writing projects--
anything you could use some coaching on!
Your questions will be answered in following issues.
You can submit your questions by email to:
coach@maximalhappiness.com. Please place
the words "Ask the Coach" in the subject line.

Finally, I would also like to offer you an opportunity
to join a free teleclass I will be leading starting in May.

I hope you enjoy this issue, and I'll see you again in May.

Warmly,
Rachna

*Please feel free to pass this issue along to people

Taking Risks

This is something that's been on my mind this month. I see
how many times I struggle and think twice about putting myself
out there in the world, and I wondered if, just maybe, you all
might have some of the same struggles.

Are you at a place in your life where you want something more?
What does more look like? A new job? A new relationship?
(Or jumpstart a current one?), Extra time for yourself?
Increased spontaneity?

What keeps us from getting all these things easily and quickly?
Fear of the Unknown.

Have you ever had a conversation with yourself that goes like this,
"Oh! I'd LOVE to apply for that new job!" and then,
"BUT I'm probably not that qualified."

Or, how about- "I'd LOVE to ask that person out!" and then,
"BUT what if s/he says no?"

Has this ever happened to you?

What do you normally do? If you're like most people, you let fear
stop you. It could be fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of being
vulnerable, fear of being wrong, fear of looking bad, fear of sounding
stupid. We never seem to run out of fears.

Most often, though, our fears are "F"alse "E"vidence "A"ppearing "R"eal.

How do we know the difference between "true" fear and "false" fear?
I say, "Go with your gut". If you're feeling anxious, worried, or tense in
your body- that's real fear- and is likely a sign that something you're
about to do is out of alignment for you.

If you don't feel tension, anxiety, or fear in your body, yet you have
this nagging voice that keeps saying, "Well, this could be really bad,
or remember last time, you messed up, and it made problems for
everyone..." this is, most likely, "false" fear in the sense that it's
trying to keep you safe and keep you from taking a risk.

Taking risks is important to keep you moving forward and evolving.
Even though it can sometimes be really uncomfortable, the rewards
often exceed the discomfort. The only way to move through fear is to
take the risk, and do the thing you thought you could not do. In this
way, you will continue to take part in the flow of opportunities and
resources available in your life.

As Anais Nin once said, "And the day came when the risk to remain
tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom"

In this season of Spring on the East Coast of the US, I invite you to
risk "blossoming" and go after something you really want!

You can do it!

See you next month!

Ask The Coach:

Will begin next month. Please submit questions on

would like coaching on!
