With all the turmoil on the international political
scene, many people are feeling stressed and worried
about the future. I have received many emails from
current and former clients, all of which are alluding
to this time of "stress" and "worry" and "fear".
While I do agree that there are a lot of things
to feel worried about- I also know that the more
you worry, the more you have to worry about, and so on.

You might know that worry doesn't solve anything- but
it might be difficult to stop from doing it.

I know a woman, Martha, who has had a series of
traumatic life events, and reacts strongly to old
fears and strains that come creeping back up on her
whenever world events take a turn for the worst.
Martha has been stockpiling food and supplies and
has been furiously scanning the Internet for
information on how to cope with a bio-terrorist
attack. She is having difficulty sleeping, and
feels anxious. She is choosing to create war
within herself- and this mirrors the events on
the outside.

In contrast, I also know a woman named Samantha,
who also has had a series of traumatic life events,
and finds that her old fears come up on her, too,
when world events take a turn for the worst.
Samantha has not stockpiled any food, or supplies,
nor does she know how to deal with the outcomes
of a bio-terrorist attack. Her approach, instead,
has been to limit her exposure to the news,
to pray & meditate more often, and to stay
focused on peace and healing for herself
and the planet. She is choosing to find
peace now - no matter what is happening on
the outside.

Are you more like Martha? Or more like Samantha?
Are you focused on your feelings of worry,
helplessness, and overwhelm- or are you doing
what you can, where you can, to find peace?

If you could use a bit more peace in your life-
find it right now. Turn off the TV and the
computer, stay away from the news for even
just a few hours. Soak in a bathtub - go for
a walk in natur e- spend time listening to
your children laughing and playing.

Find a space of peace for yourself, and you
will have done a great service in changing
the world.

"First keep peace with yourself, then you can
also bring peace to others. ~~ Thomas a' Kempis"
